IBM PC & SERVER
IBM incorporates Logical Drive Migration with the PC Serve RAID SCSI Adapter. This new technology allows changes to be made to the RAID configuration while the PC Server is up and running. Using online utilities, new RAID arrays can be added and RAID levels can be modified without deleting the original array or requiring the data to be restored from a backup source. In addition, the PC ServeRAID SCSI Adapter stores critical RAID configuration information in multiple locations on the adapter and hard disk, making disaster recovery or migrating hard drives from one server to another quick and easy. This means hard drives can now be removed from your server and installed in another server or IBM PC Server expansion tower -- in any order. The PC ServeRAID SCSI Adapter takes care of getting the configurations from the hard drives and remapping them as necessary.
This adapter contains three internal connectors, one for each channel and one external connector. Three of the four connectors can be used for attachment of SCSI devices. The PC ServeRAID SCSI Adapter can support multiple external SCSI devices through the use of new Internal Bulkhead Cable options. Installation publications, a DASD status cable, device drivers, and RAID utilities are included. The PC ServeRAID SCSI Adapter supports popular network operating systems such as OS/2(R), Windows+ NT, NetWare, and SCO. This adapter is supported in all PC Server 320, 520, and 720 models. In addition, the PC ServeRAID SCSI Adapter supports external enclosures such as the PC Server Enterprise Expansion Tower and the 3517 SCSI Multi-Storage Enclosure.
